Hidden Galleries Welcomes Dr. Gašper Mithans to UCC

On August 1st 2018, Dr. James Kapaló and the Hidden Galleries project welcomes Dr Gašper Mithans to UCC for a four month Research Fellowship (Visit an ERC Awardee), funded by the Slovenian Research Agency / Agencija za raziskovalno dejavnost Slovenije (ARRS). The title of  Dr. Mithans project is ‘Choice, persuasion, coercion: Religious change in Yugoslav successor states’.

Dr Gašper Mithans is a Senior Research Fellow at the Science and Research Centre Koper, Slovenia. His doctoral dissertation (2012) focused on the Yugoslav Concordat and Catholic-Orthodox relations in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. He led a European project funded by the Europe for Citizens programme and conducted postdoctoral research on interreligious relations and conversions in interwar Slovenia. In 2018, he was a visiting researcher at the University College Cork and attended the U. S. Department of State’s SUSI program on religious pluralism. His research interests include history of religions, the transnational and political history of interwar Slovenia, Yugoslavia and Italy.
