Description
This "Declaration" (Memoriu), also known as "The Short Statement on the Doctrine of the Brethren" appears in a Ministry of Religions and Arts file from 1925. In Romanian the Brethren are called Creștini după Evanghelie, or Christians of the Gospels. It was composed between 1924 and 1925 by The Brethren community which, up to that point was not recognized as a legal religious association in Romania. Following the adoption of the new Constitution in 1923, which provided for more freedom of faith than the previous Romanian Constitutions, religious communities required to submit such Statements in order to gain recognition. At the time when the Declaration was written, the Brethren had a few small churches București, Ploiești, Iași, Sibiu, Brașov, Dolj, and Teleorman counties. The present Statment was sent to the Ministry of Religions and Arts in January 1925, for the second time, by the community from the city of Ploiești in an attempt to remind the authorities that such a document exists and that they are allowed to function legally, according to the laws in force. The letter that accompanies the Statement highlights the fact that the church in Ploiești had been active since before the First World War, when they were regularly visited by the Romanian authorities of the time, and found to be of no danger for the state.

Also included is in this file is a similar declaration of faith entitled Short statement on the principles of the Churches of God (Pentecostals) submitted to the Romanian authorities as part of their requests for official recognition.

Acest Memoriu, cunoscut și sub titlul de „Scurtă declarație privind doctrina Creștinilor după Evanghelie”, apare într-un dosar al Ministerului Cultelor și Artelor din anul 1925. Acesta a fost redactat între 1924 și 1925 de către comunitatea creștină după Evanghelie care, până la acel moment, nu se bucura de recunoaștere oficială ca asociație religioasă. După adoptarea Constituției din 1923, constituție ce prevedea o mai mare libertate religioasă decât cele anterioare, comunităților religioase li s-a cerut redactarea unor astfel de memorii pentru a obține recunoaștere legală. Memoriul de față a fost trimis, pentru a doua oară, Ministerului Cultelor și Artelor în ianuarie 1925 de către comunitatea din Ploiești, într-o încercare de a atrage atenția autorităților asupra faptului că un astfel de document există și că erau liberi să funcționeze în mod legal, conform legilor în vigoare. Scrisoarea ce însoțește Declarația subliniază faptul că biserica din Ploiești era activă încă de dinainte de Primul Război Mondial, când era în mod regulat vizitată de către autoritățile timpului, constatându-se că nu reprezenta un pericol pentru siguranța statului.
Acest manuscris se găsește la Arhivele Naționale Istorice Centrale (ANIC), fond Ministerul Cultelor și Artelor 172/1925, alături de diverse alte documente ce fac referire la unele așa zise secte, cu precădere la problemele pe care acestea le cauzau prin prezența lor în armată. Inclusă în același dosar este o mărturisire de credință similară, intitulată „Scurtă expunere a principiilor Bisericilor lui Dumnezeu (Penticostale)”, trimisă către autoritățile române cu scopul de a obține recunoaștere oficială.
